Warranty & Brake Installation Guidelines

At KillerBrakes, we understand that braking performance, safety and reliability matter. Whether you’ve purchased brake pads, performance discs, calipers or a complete big brake kit, we want to help you choose suitable components, install them correctly and resolve any genuine product issues.

This page explains our warranty enquiry process, important installation considerations and the distinction between manufacturing defects, normal wear and damage arising from use.

Your statutory consumer rights are not limited by this guidance or by any additional manufacturer warranty.

1. Your Warranty Rights

Legal Guarantee of Conformity

For consumer purchases covered by Romanian law, the seller is generally responsible for a lack of conformity that existed at delivery and becomes apparent within two years of delivery, subject to applicable legal conditions.

Depending on the circumstances, remedies may include repair, replacement, price reduction or termination of the contract.

Where required by law, qualifying repairs or replacements are provided without cost to the consumer, including applicable removal and reinstallation costs for properly installed goods.

Manufacturer Warranties

Certain products may carry additional warranties issued by their manufacturers.

The duration, scope and conditions of these commercial warranties vary by product and manufacturer and will be specified where applicable.

Manufacturer warranties are additional to, and do not replace, mandatory consumer rights.

2. Automotive Brake Pads

Brake pads are consumable components, and their service life depends on driving conditions, vehicle weight, brake temperature, friction compound and maintenance.

We can investigate concerns involving manufacturing defects, abnormal material separation or unexpected deterioration.

Normal wear does not, by itself, establish a manufacturing defect.

Some performance-oriented brake pads may produce additional noise or dust, particularly at lower operating temperatures. However, complaints involving noise, vibration or unusual wear should be assessed in their specific circumstances rather than automatically rejected.

Important: Always follow the brake pad manufacturer’s bedding-in instructions and verify whether the chosen compound is suitable and approved for your intended road or motorsport use.

3. Automotive Brake Discs

Brake discs are exposed to significant mechanical and thermal loads. Their condition depends on installation, pad compatibility, operating temperatures and ongoing maintenance.

If brake vibration, cracking, unusual corrosion or premature deterioration occurs, the cause should be investigated.

Potential contributing factors include:

  • Manufacturing defects.
  • Incorrect installation or hub preparation.
  • Excessive disc runout or thickness variation.
  • Uneven brake pad material deposits.
  • Operating conditions exceeding the component’s intended specification.
  • Contamination, maintenance issues or damage.

A qualified technician should inspect the braking system according to the vehicle and brake manufacturer’s specifications.

Drilled, grooved and two-piece brake discs may have different operating characteristics and maintenance requirements. Reported damage will be assessed on the available evidence; the appearance of a crack or vibration does not, by itself, determine whether a manufacturing defect exists.

Always follow the relevant brake-disc and brake-pad bedding procedures.

4. Big Brake Kits, Calipers & Accessories

Big brake kits and related components require careful compatibility verification.

Before installation, check:

  • Vehicle make, model, generation and brake configuration.
  • Brake caliper and disc compatibility.
  • Wheel diameter, width, offset (ET) and spoke clearance.
  • Brake lines, adapters, mounting brackets and hardware.
  • Manufacturer-specified installation and operating requirements.

Wheel clearance cannot be guaranteed by wheel diameter alone.

Some wheel and brake combinations may require additional compatible components. Do not modify calipers, brackets or pads to force an installation.

If a supplied part appears incorrect, contact KillerBrakes before painting, machining or altering it.

Unauthorised modifications may complicate technical assessment and can cause damage, but they do not automatically remove mandatory rights concerning unrelated nonconformities.

5. Motorsport & Track-Day Use

Performance braking components may be used under considerably higher thermal and mechanical loads during track days and motorsport.

Before purchasing, confirm that the selected parts are suitable for the intended use and that they comply with applicable road-use requirements.

Products specifically designed for racing may have different manufacturer warranty conditions and may not be approved for public-road use.

Damage caused by use outside the component’s specified operating limits, misuse or incorrect installation may not be covered by a commercial warranty or constitute a manufacturing defect.

However, use on a racetrack does not automatically eliminate statutory consumer rights concerning unrelated defects.

For advice on choosing road, fast-road or track-focused brake components, please contact KillerBrakes.

6. Brake Installation & Maintenance Guidelines

Brakes are safety-critical components. Installation and inspection should be performed by a qualified automotive technician using the correct vehicle and component manufacturer instructions.

Before returning a vehicle to service, the technician should:

  1. Confirm part numbers, compatibility and complete kit contents.
  2. Check the condition of the hubs, mounting surfaces and associated components.
  3. Measure relevant runout and clearances against manufacturer specifications.
  4. Use the correct fasteners, tools, tightening torques and approved consumables.
  5. Verify brake hose routing, fluid compatibility and secure installation.
  6. Inspect for fluid leaks, abnormal friction, warning indicators and correct pedal operation.
  7. Follow the recommended brake bedding-in procedure.
  8. Arrange appropriate follow-up inspections based on the vehicle’s use.

Do not use universal torque or runout values where vehicle-specific manufacturer specifications apply.

Safety warning: If braking performance deteriorates, fluid leaks occur, severe vibration develops or structural damage is suspected, stop using the vehicle and arrange professional inspection.

7. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

If you believe a product is defective or does not match its description, contact KillerBrakes as soon as reasonably possible.

Step 1 — Contact Us

Email: office@killerbrakes.com

WhatsApp: +40 747 930 208

Please use the subject: Warranty Enquiry – Order Number

Step 2 — Provide Product Information

Include the following information where available:

  • Order number and product name or SKU.
  • Date of purchase.
  • Vehicle make, model and year.
  • Description of the issue and when it first appeared.
  • Photographs or video showing the issue.
  • Approximate vehicle mileage and relevant operating conditions.
  • Installation documentation or a technical assessment, if available.

Installation records may assist the investigation but their absence is not an automatic reason to reject mandatory consumer rights.

Step 3 — Technical Assessment

Our team will review the available information and advise whether additional photographs, diagnostics or inspection of the product are required.

Please contact us before shipping a component back so that we can confirm the appropriate return or inspection arrangements.

Step 4 — Resolution

Where a qualifying lack of conformity is confirmed, we will provide the applicable legal remedy.

Manufacturer commercial warranties, where available, will be handled in accordance with their valid terms without reducing mandatory statutory rights.

8. Frequently Asked Questions

Does normal brake pad wear qualify for a warranty claim?

Normal wear is expected during braking. However, unusual or premature deterioration may justify further technical assessment.

Are drilled brake discs covered?

A reported defect in a drilled disc will be assessed according to its cause, the product’s intended use and applicable warranty or statutory rights.

Can I claim warranty after installing the product?

Yes. Installation does not automatically remove statutory consumer rights. Correct fitting and any available installation evidence can help establish the cause of a problem.

Are track-day brake components covered?

No Warranty is offered or implied on any product purchased from KillerBrakes for race Use, competition use, track day use or use on any race circuit or drag strip.

Are installation or labour costs covered?

Where legally required for the repair or replacement of correctly installed nonconforming goods, necessary removal and reinstallation costs may be included.

Is a warranty claim the same as a product return?

No. A claim concerning defective or nonconforming goods is different from exercising the statutory withdrawal right for eligible distance purchases.
